The Digital Democracy Camp WS 25/26

Understanding and shaping e-participation

On February 12 and 13, 2026, the Digital Democracy Camp at KIT held its second edition—this time spanning two days. The goal of the event was to explore together how digital participation formats can support and further develop democratic processes at universities.

The event kicked off on Thursday afternoon with a thematic introduction and an engaging discussion on the culture of discussion and debate. Following this, participants engaged in a moderated discussion with experts from KIT and external institutions to explore the opportunities and challenges of digital formats.

Friday focused on the presentation of a student project from the Institute for Information Systems (WIN), which addressed strengthening student participation opportunities through digital tools. In addition, a practical presentation on the Liquid Feedback participation system offered insights into concrete applications of digital democracy.

The Digital Democracy Camp thus focused not only on acquiring knowledge about e-participation but also on jointly experimenting with new forms of participation. The event provided a space for both exchange and critical reflection and offers important impetus for engaging with digital democracy formats at KIT.
